Kate has worn just about every hat in the publishing world. After graduating from James Madison University with an English major, writing minor, and honors, she split her time between an editorial internship with Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill and a job as a bookseller at a beloved indie, Quail Ridge Books. She then moved to a full-time position at Random House in the adult publicity department, where she assisted the Executive Vice President of Publicity and worked with New York Times bestselling authors Lee Child and Sophie Kinsella, among others. She made the switch to children’s at Bright Agency US, where she learned all about the agenting side of the business, until she finally settled in the editorial department at Bloomsbury Children’s Books, where she now works.
Kate is uniquely qualified to analyze a freelance project from every angle, from pitch to publication. And she loves books with all her heart and soul. With a keen eye for language, story development, and the current market, Kate will whip your book into publishable shape while maintaining its artistic flare.
